The GF 20-35mm F4 R WR matches a full-frame 16-28mm in angle of view, comes with full weather protection, and sports an internal zoom design and takes 82mm front filters. The GF medium format system is also getting a new lens, a wide-angle zoom. No word on whether a specialized APD edition will follow, as was the case with the original. The new XF 56mm F1.2 R WR has the same asking price as its predecessor, $999. A Fuji rep tells us that some of its older lenses were simply not engineered with 40MP in mind, "when we started out we didn't think we'd see a 40MP APS sensor, we thought it would top out somewhere in the 30s." The new optical formula is there to better match the high-pixel sensor. The focus motor is also upgraded in order to keep pace with brisker burst rates and tracking focus systems. The XF 56mm F1.2 R is getting an all new optical formula and adding the WR designation to indicate that it's now weather-protected and has anti-smudge fluorine glass.

XF 56mm Gets an UpdateĬoming alongside the new camera is an update to one of Fuji's unique APS-C lens designs. The camera is priced at $1,999 as a body only, welcome news for customers put off by the X-H2S's sky-high $2,499 asking price.
If you opt for power-intensive video capture, you can add a vertical grip with support for two additional batteries, tripling the camera's longevity. The X-H2 promises to match the 2S in power efficiency the two share the same battery and both are rated for 680 exposures per charge. For tripod work, a multi-shot mode is available for 160MP output. The two cameras share the same autofocus system, one that supports subject tracking and recognition for people, pets and wildlife, and vehicles. Fuji tells us its e-shutter readout is about the same as the X-T4. Slow-motion is limited to 1080p240 (with a slight crop).įor stills, the mechanical shutter matches up with the X-H2S for 15fps tracking, but the X-H2 skips the high-speed electronic shutter, so it can only manage 20fps and can't freeze motion as reliably. It maintains ProRes support, ups the top recording resolution to 8K30, and supports oversampled 6.2K30 and 4K30, all using the full width of the sensor, as well as 4K60 without oversampling. X-H2įujifilm has made no secret about the X-H2's resolution it's the most pixel-rich APS-C chip yet at 40MP, and is now detailing its full capabilities. The X-H2S is the high-speed model, with a 26MP Stacked CMOS chip that supports 40fps Raw bursts with a motion-freezing electronic shutter, along with 4K60 ProRes, 6K open gate, and 4K120 slow-motion video. The major difference between the two cameras is the image sensor. The twin cameras are the collective follow-up to the X-H1 and follow it in concept-they're real pro pieces of equipment, built tough with magnesium alloy construction and weather protection, and equally as adept for video as stills. The X-H2 follows the X-H2S by a few months, and the two cameras are as close together in form and concept as their model badges imply.
